A local and sustainable alternative to glass seed beads, these handmade North American porcupine quill seed beads are naturally beautiful! I’ve cleaned, trimmed, and cut locally and sustainably harvested porcupine quills to create these natural beads for your next crafting project!

Each seed bead measures ~2mm-5mm in length with approximately a size 18-22 gauge. Porcupine Quill Seed Beads are sold in various amounts to better meet your needs. Choose from the pull-down menu the quantity you wish you purchase. Because these beads are non-uniform, I suggest purchasing more than you will need for your intended project.

Due to the nature of natural handmade products, bead size, length, and color will vary. Quills tend to yellow over time. Also, some beads are not hollow and instead appear solid. This inner material is keratin (what hair and fingernails are made of) and is easily puncturable with dull wire or a needle.

*Beads are very durable but extremely lightweight, please take care when beading to insure you are not working in a windy or drafty area.*

Note: The package quantities shown in the last photograph are respectively marked as 100, 300, and 500 beads per bag.

***All animal products are locally, legally, and sustainably harvested by myself or individuals I personally know. ANIMALS ARE NEVER KILLED FOR THE PURPOSE OF ART! The majority of supplies are obtained from motor vehicle collisions, and I see this as a way to honor these animals. Each piece is meticulously cleaned manually and washed with hot soapy water before being disinfected with rubbing alcohol.***
